Ohio State’s
75th season of football in 1964 saw the Buckeyes ranked number one
for a bit in the polls before falling to Penn State, who was still an
independent at the time. They finished
second in the Big Ten behind Michigan and ninth in the country. It was during this 25-year period that Ohio
State became a national brand, winning national titles in 1942, 1954, 1957, and
1961. The Buckeyes were 153-61-13
(102-44-10 Big Ten) during this span, which also included seven Big Ten titles
and three Rose Bowls (all three victories).
This brought the 75-year total to 418-190-45 overall and 180-88-19 in
the Big Ten.
