The Ohio State Buckeyes improved to 11-0 on the 2023 season
by taking down Minnesota 37-3.
The Ohio State defense, for a second straight week, kept the
opponent out of the end zone. Minnesota
was held to a mere 3 of 12 on third downs and just 159 total yards. Jack Sawyer has his best day as a Buckeye,
racking up six tackles, four of which were for a loss. His hit on Minnesota QB Athan Kaliakmanis on
Minnesota’s first drive of the second half was recovered and returned by J.T.
Tuimoloau to the six-yard line. Steele
Chambers pitched in with five stops, while Denzel Burke got back in the swing
of things with three tackles. True to
Senior Day, we saw quite a few seniors play their final time in the ‘Shoe in
the second half.
Offensively, the Buckeyes racked up 434 yards despite a somewhat
sluggish first half, which saw them take a 13-0 lead into the half. That didn’t matter much as the crowd
witnessed an explosion out of the locker room as TreVeyon Henderson made a
house call from 75 yards out on the first play of the second half, then the
Buckeyes cashed in on the Tuimoloau fumble return with Marvin Harrison Jr.
catching yet another touchdown pass.
Emeka Egbuka showed he’s fully recovered from his ankle sprain, as he
led the way with five catches for 83 yards.
TreVeyon Henderson, of course, led the way on the ground with 146 yards
and Dallan Hayden picked up 34 yards.
Up now is the biggest game of the year. The Game up in Ann Arbor with a lot at stake.
