Ohio State Football: 125 years of excellence: Year 1: 1890

Home Field: Recreation Park (bounded by East Kossuth Street on the north, East Whittier Street on the south, Jaeger Street to the west, Ebner Street to the east).  The site is now occupied by a Giant Eagle Superstore.



 The first ever Ohio State football game was played May 3, 1890 on a field south of the present day Ohio Wesleyan football stadium in Delaware.  Back in those games, kicking was heavily emphasized.  The scoring system broke down like this:

Field Goal: 5 points
Touchdown: 4 points
Safety: 2 points
PAT: 2 points
